Our Doctors
Dr. Jenna Swenson
Dentist
Dr. Swenson’s awareness of the importance of compassion and communication while providing dental care began at a young age. Her older brother was born with cerebral palsy, and her family struggled to find a dental home for her brothers’ needs. With this personal experience in mind, Dr. Swenson is committed to providing quality and compassionate comprehensive care to all of her patients no matter their limitations.
Dr. Swenson grew up in Minnesota. Upon graduation from the University of Minnesota- Morris, Dr. Jenna Swenson wasn’t certain where her degree in Biology would take her. She accepted a position working in Immunology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, which she held for 4 years. At this same time, Dr. Swenson was also a student studying Immunology at Mayo Graduate School.
In Dr. Swenson’s spare time she completed volunteer work at a community clinic that provided medical and dental care. Volunteering at this community clinic was truly life-changing and rewarding. It was here she realized that her true calling was a career in dentistry.
Dr. Jenna Swenson graduated from the University of Minnesota, School of Dentistry in 2013. Following dental school, she completed a one year General Practice Residency at the VA Hospital in Minneapolis.
Through her work in the community and the VA Hospital, Dr. Swenson cultivated her desire to work closely with her patients, making them comfortable by listening and responding to their concerns. She feels strongly about educating and informing her patients. She takes time to explain procedures and options to patients in an easy to understand way. In addition, she understands that we all have unique and individual needs and by taking time to discuss treatment we are able to be partners in maintaining dental health.
Dr. Swenson has enjoyed being involved with organizations such as: Mission of Mercy, Give Kids a Smile and Ready, Set, Smile.
Dr. Swenson is a member of the American Dental Association, the Minnesota Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, Seattle Study Club, Spear Study Club and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
Dr. Swenson is also a certified Invisalign provider.
Dr. Joan Jakubas
Dentist
For Dr. Joan M. Jakubas, nurturing strong relationships is as important as maintaining healthy teeth. She takes an avid interest in her patients’ lives and health. In turn, she and her team of dental professionals work hard to find the best solutions for their patients’ individual dental care needs.
Dr. Jakubas grew up in West Bend, Wisconsin. She attended Marquette University for her undergraduate training and graduated as a Dental Hygienist prior to attending Dental School. Dr. Jakubas worked as a Dental Hygienist for a few years prior to returning to school for her Dental Training.
Dr. Jakubas graduated from the University of Minnesota’s Dental School in 1987. She began private practice a year later.
Dr. Jakubas has a deep connection with the community in South Minneapolis. She enjoys donating her time and volunteering through Donated Dental Services, Give Kids a Smile, Mission of Mercy and Ready, Set, Smile.
She stays on top of the latest trends in dental specialties through post-graduate programs and study groups, ensuring patients receive the best treatment for endodontics, implants and cosmetic dentistry.
Dr. Jakubas has trained with the Pankey Institute and the Bioclear Institute. She is also a member of the American Dental Association, the Minnesota Dental Association, the Seattle Study Club and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
Dr. Alexa Klunder
Dentist
Dentistry has allowed Dr. Klunder to combine her love for artistic expression and critical thinking to enhance her patients’ quality of life. While patients are in her dental chair, Dr. Klunder aims to provide patients with a comfortable, informative, and pleasant experience.
Dr. Klunder grew up in Rochester, MN, and obtained a Bachelor's degree from Minnesota State University in Mankato. Between college and dental school, she worked at a dental lab as a technician fabricating dental restorations and volunteered at Good Samaritan Dental Health Clinic in Rochester. She later moved to Illinois and obtained a Master of Arts in Biomedical Sciences as well as her Doctorate in Dental Medicine from the College of Dental Medicine at Midwestern University. To further enhance her patient care skills, she completed the General Practice Residency at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center. Dr. Klunder considers herself a ‘lifetime learner’ and strives to stay up to date on the latest technologies and techniques.
Dr. Klunder is a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, the Minnesota Dental Association, and the Seattle Study Club.
In her spare time, Dr. Klunder enjoys cooking, hiking, eating spicy foods, and playing with her Irish Wolfhound, Ronan.

Leigh
Hygienist
Leigh is a 2004 graduate from Mankato State University. She is a licensed dental hygienist and has been a part of the team since 2007. Using state-of-the-art technology, Leigh will give you a thorough and pleasant experience every time!
Nikki
Hygienist
Nikki comes to Minnehaha Falls Family Dental as a licensed hygienist from Argosy University. Nikki is a talented hygienist who joined our team in 2011. She has a sincere dedication to her patients and their wellbeing. Her upbeat personality brings a spark to the office.
Barb
Hygienist
Barb earned her Dental Hygiene degree from Argosy University and has had experience in a wide variety of dental practices, including general dentistry, periodontics, and prosthodontics. Barb has a gentle touch and is especially good with children.
Kara
Hygienist
Kara is a graduate of Normandale Community College, where she acquired her license in dental hygiene in 2001. She joined the team in 2009 and is dedicated to understanding the individual needs of our patients.
Sarah
Hygienist
Sarah joined Minnehaha Falls Family Dental in 2018. Sarah has been a hygienist for over 25 years, working in variety of dental settings including: general dentistry, periodontal offices and implant offices. She brings great experience to our team.

Assistant
Jackie joined Minnehaha Falls Family Dental Clinic as a Licensed Dental Assistant in 1992. She has advanced education certification in restorative and expanded functions. She brings invaluable experience to the team. New and long-time patients appreciate her quiet competence and smiling face.
Allison
Assistant
Allison grew up in Central MN. She joined Minnehaha Falls Family Dental Clinic as a Licensed Dental Assistant in 2017. She worked at a dental office near her hometown for several years before moving to Minneapolis. Allison is incredibly organized and hard working. She also has a wonderful balance of humor, smarts and kindness!

Aindrea
Patient Coordinator
Originally from Kansas, Aindrea moved to the Twin Cities in 2013 for her husband’s work. As a Patient Coordinator on our team, she brings with her helpful experience from working both at a pediatric doctor’s office and in banking.
Kathy
Office Manager
Kathy first worked with Dr. Jakubas as a dental assistant intern in 1988. She went on to work exclusively with insurance companies before joining the team again in 2003. She brings a wealth of knowledge to our team and patients. Her caring attitude is demonstrated by providing patients with above and beyond service.
